Doncaster 0-2 Lincoln: Ben House double seals League One title for Imps

Lincoln have been crowned Sky Bet League One champions after a 2-0 win against Doncaster.

Michael Skubala's side had already secured promotion to the Championship on April 6, after a 2-1 win over Reading.

After collecting four points from the two games that followed, the Imps only needed to avoid defeat at the Eco-Power Stadium to secure the league title - and they did with victory on Tuesday night.

In 2026/27, Lincoln will play in the second tier of English football for the first time in 65 years.

It has been a magnificent season for the third-tier champions and goals either side of the break from Ben House also secured an incredible 27th game unbeaten.

The Imps started brightly and should have gone ahead when Harry Clifton fouled Jack Moylan in the box after 20 minutes, but Rob Street's penalty was well saved by Thimothee Lo-Tutala.

The Rovers keeper then kept out a Sonny Bradley header one-handed before the Imps took the lead in the 43rd minute.

Matty Pearson miscued a clearance and the ball found its way to Moylan, who slipped in House and he slammed a low shot past Lo-Tutala as Lincoln scored for the 29th match in succession.

After the break it was all City, with Street seeing an effort blocked by Lo-Tutala, Ivan Varfolomeev's powerful free-kick headed off the line by Owen Bailey and Moylan ending a superb run by drilling a shot inches wide.

Lincoln eventually doubled their lead after 72 minutes when Hamer's cross was flicked on by Street for House to powerfully head home.

Street was then denied by a post as the Imps fans celebrated their side's historic moment.

Lincoln boss Michael Skubala:

"The goal was to get promoted, but the way we've done it has definitely gone above and beyond everyone's expectations… and made some dreams come true.

"Once you get the steamroller moving, these boys are just a machine, they just keep going and going.

"There's going to be a party on Saturday [against Wycombe at home] as all the fans will love that, so we're going to just enjoy it. We've achieved the big two targets and winning the title was excellent. The lads have absolutely stormed it.

"It's definitely a family feel and it's important we started that in the summer with all the staff connected. Everyone has worked so hard.

"The players give everything and we are relentless and resilient. The work ethic in the team is amazing.

It's hard to come away and dominate, but we totally dominated them. Second half we were just unbelievable and we could have scored more goals.

"It's not just we've done it, it's how we've done it. What a performance in winning the title, in just being us.

"I thought the performance epitomised our season. From start to finish, we were excellent, we have been all season."
